Werewolf boy - Class doodle

Sometimes a sketch takes a direction of its own. While meandering an idea for a werewolf type creature the initial doodle wound up as an exploration of patterns and texture as well as design. This is from a session of drawing with my class the other night.

It looks great, your students are so lucky.
I was wondering: I would love to work in the game industry, as a concept artist of course, but I don't have a proper education on art, here in Italy art schools are rare, everything that I know came from studying my favourite artist's works, like yours. So the point is: Can you give me some hints on what to do, how to introduce myself as a concept artist in the videogame industry?
Thanks.

The best advice I can offer you Gabriele is to be the best artist you can be doing what you want to do creatively. Show your work online and start building a following. Even if it's just family and friends to start.

I was recently told of a major gaming company in LA that hired an artist from China. He was a gardener and he created art on the side. He posted his work online and was so good, they hired him once he was discovered.

Artistically it's very important to get your basic skills down. Master your fundamentals and you'll have a much better chance of developing towards a professional level. There's lots of art tutorial videos on YouTube. Make the most of what's available to you educationally and keep creating. That's the key to it all. Draw every day and really get good at what you do and share it with the world.

Thank you for your advices, I already started a gallery on a famous site called DeviantArt (Maybe you heard about it, by the way here is the link if you want to check it out: http://gabriele-t92.deviantart.com/ ;) ) And it's full of great artists, even professionals, and maybe that's one of the problems, with all this great and famous talents it's difficult to be discovered.
Obviously I'll continue to draw and develop my skills every day and submit my art to the world.

A job as a game artist, or as a comic book artist, was always my dream since I was a kid (Other than being a paleontologist, dream that I'm studying to make it real) the idea of designing the visuals for a character and then see him run around on a screen it's fascinating to me.

You have artistic talent Gabriele. You're at the point where a good art education would help you to really take off. If you enjoy creating then continue to have fun with it. Strive to be the best you can and really get into the art. The better you get the more attention you'll attract. The closer you get to a master level the more you'll find yourself in situations where people will want to work with you. Good luck and keep creating!

Oh, by the way, I found this video on Youtube that talks about the relationship between you and Joe Pearson with Naughty Dog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_wIt1cZIfc
