Fun with monsters

The night before in Visual Development at the Academy I gave myself a theme to create while students worked on their assignments. Monsters is a good one that you can't go wrong with. I sketched these concepts for head designs in black line pen. At first I wasn't happy with some of these but now that the drawings are digitized I feel better about them. This technique is called free form sketching and is a good exercise in developing your confidence and imagination.

I absolutely LOVE free sketching.
My imagination can run wild when I do it and sometimes my art looks and even feels a lot better. Gives it some form of energy, you know?

By the way, this may not be related to this post but is there a new Crash Bandicoot game coming? I've seen pictures of him redesigned around the net and people are wondering what exactly is the design for?
He's on the left by the way:

Thanks for your comments guys.

The mysterious Crash poster at Vicarious Visions was brought up here before. Nobody knows what it's about other than it looks to be a recent creation from what we can tell. There's speculation that it could mean a new Crash game is on the way but who knows. I look at it as more Crash art to enjoy for the time being.
