Teddy Bear-able color

I was going through files and organizing artwork when I rediscovered this demo from a couple years ago in 2011 while I was teaching at Cal State University Northridge here in the northern Los Angeles area. This was done entirely in Photoshop on a Cintiq tablet which is a monitor that you can draw on. The first image is the final version. Prior to the color tints I set up the composition in gray scale and then of course there's the original line drawing that defined the subject. It was created while the class watched the process projected on a large screen. This was fun to work on. CSUN students create a good environment.

Love it Charles. That's a cute Teddy Bear you got going there!

Also, I found this piece of art of Tiny Tiger:

I found this in a foreign gaming magazine. Actually, most of the Crash art I find is mostly in this European gaming magazines, very rare to see this in the US.

Thanks Pat.

Yep, that's one of my sketches. He was originally called the Tasmanian Tiger at this point. His name was changed later to Tiny. Joe Pearson came up with the original concept design.

Are the origins of Tiny and conceptual designs of Joe's in the Production Bible?

The last page in the "Characters" section of the Willy the Wombat production bible is the Tasmanian Tiger.

There's a short description...

"After snow boarding along the snow caps, this enemy is waiting for you at the Half Pipe. Defeating him will allow entrance to the sewer."

Dated May 5, 1995.

That's the extent of it. He's classified under a group bio for Cortex's Henchmen which includes Ripper Roo, Koala Kong, Kimodo and Kimono, and Pinstripe.

Wow! I really had no idea that Tiny was supposed to be a snowboarder or something along those lines. Snowboarding wouldn't become a thing in Crash until Twinsanity in which Crash uses Cortex as a snowboarding down snowy hills and Crash of the Titans when Crash uses Aku Aku as a skateboard/snowboard.

That bible sure does hold a lot of secrets and goodies, hope to see more of it in the future!

Also Charles, check out this awesome interview I scored with your pal Joe P under my username CrashRatchetFan:

I read the interview Pat. I'm aware of it from before. Congrats on a very significant interview with Joe Pearson. You did a great job!

Thank you Charles!

And Charles, I hate to be a burden but my friend is a huge fan of the Komodo Brothers, is it okay if you can lend me some info on the duo? He would be greatly pleased!

As far as I recall Joe came up with the idea for the characters. In the production bible this is their description...

............

KIMODO AND KIMONO (The Dragon Brothers)

These characters are located at the end of the Ruins area, and must be defeated before proceeding to the next island.

.............

There's also fairly extensive bios on them. At some future date I'll see what can be done about getting this out.
