Hey Crash new shoes?

More experimentation and retooling on Crash Bandicoot's original design per request from previous comments. I sketched this out in class the other day exploring a leaner look in his waist along with arms articulated lower on his body and longer hair. Did I mention his new shoes? If you'd like to see the return of Crash in a new game then get involved and help spread the word...

That's a sweet new look for Crash Charles! Bravo!

Did you take inspiration from this sketch of Crash from Radical's cancelled game (I posted this before in June)?:

Thanks Pat. I was having fun in general toying with the look of Crash. Not related to what was happening with him previously.

All these designs of Crash are very interesting! Seeing him go through this evolution is so cool! Are you gonna tackle his gloves next? When I was little I've always imagined an "N" stamped on his forehand, like how a branding iron was used in meat factories. http://imageshack.us/a/img29/5750/loulv.png I have a weird imagination. Also http://imageshack.us/a/img192/1931/sadnesstitled5.png Because I love drawing fanart/giftart for people. I hope you don't mind..

Hi Parveen Junus. Your Crash art reminded me that I've been neglecting a certain aspect of his design. I'll make the correction next time I draw Crash. As far as his gloves and other things, when a character is in a development phase, or even a redevelopment phase, just about anything goes. Whatever comes to mind is something that is drawn. In a production situation there would be a director, producer or supervisor who would then channel the different ideas and approaches into a final design. I don't know what I'll be focusing on next but the glove aspect is something to look into.

Those shoes...A name pops in my mind and that name is Sonic The Hedgehog! The shoes are basically the same as the ones of Sonic:http://sonicisthebesthedgehog.webs.com/sonic%20(1).jpg Is this only a coincidence? About the design itsef I don't know why but I think that Crash is a bit strange drawn in this way, the small shoes and long hair are the strangest things of the entire deisgn, but I have to admit that even if I love the original design this is wuite interesting, and is it me or the proportions are much closer to the ones of the Tasmanian Devil? http://people.bu.edu/wwildman/ben/tassie/taz.jpg

Crash must have shopped at the same shoe store as Sonic. There is a basic similarity in the shoes. It was inadvertent on my part. Wasn't looking to copy them just trying something different. Now I know what to avoid. See, that's how development works! In terms of the Tasmanian Devil, that's another story I'll get to in the future. Just having fun with different versions of Crash. Appreciate the input.

Don't worry, we really appreciate all your awesome drawings ;) I hope one day to become a professional artist and maybe work in the game industry.
Did you ever heard about Rayman Origins? Is a game where everything is hand drawn, especially the characters. See it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQX_6ovlPdU

Now what do you think about a Crash game with that art style? You do the animations and Joe Pearson for the backgrounds. It would be the best game ever!

I think a hand drawn Crash game is an excellent idea. I'd really enjoy working on it.

Oh Cool I didn't think I'd get a reply! (I don't even know if there is a reply button? sorry I never went on this type of blog before) but thank you very much for your advice, I'm rather honoured! I'll think about that when designing other characters for fun. I've honestly think up a lot of "what if" ideas for Crash for a very long time.

I drew this one yesterday http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mazkqm0yOk1r35d6to1_1280.png It was inspired a bit by Light Jak.

Oh another thing, will you draw Coco soon? It would be so cool to see her again too! Maybe Pura and Polar too, I imagine they would be giants by now. Hehe pardon me, I'm getting a little too ecstatic.

Hey Charles, this piece of art was from Crash Warped:

The drawing before the two rendered Crash's your design or was it Bob Rafei's?

For Parveen, your artwork is well done. Shows confidence. Right now I'm pressed for getting to pending projects but I'll try and draw other Crash characters as time allows.

To Pat, the drawing of Crash you're referring to was not done by me. I don't know if it was Bob Rafei either. Most likely it was. Looks like it was based on a previous image of Crash that I drew at some point early on.

Yeah, the sketch was probably based on Crash's running animation in Crash 1.
