Continuing with the saga of reaching a final design for Emperor Velo from Crash Nitro Kart in 2002. At this point in the character's development Vicarious Visions had focused their attention on one of the previous concept sketches I created. When things get to this point and a decision is made as to the look of the character the process becomes a matter of refinement. That's the case with these three drawings as we started to bear down on Velo.

I can see that the first two are close to the final design. Say Charles, in the classic Crash games, who's American Exitus?
That was my company at the time. Joe Pearson was initially contacted through his connections at Universal about developing a video game project. He was having issues with some business associates and couldn't really use his company to negotiate the deal for Willy the Wombat. So we took care of business using my company instead.
Did they do other work besides games too?
The company wasn't used for anything else after Crash. It was originally formed to produce an independent project of mine. That's the project that was shown to ND and helped to inspire Crash. I closed down the company a couple of years after that but the project kept going. I plan on launching it online this coming January.
Is this the logo:

Also, I can't wait to see your new project Charles!
Yep that's it.
I'm excited about the project. It's been a long time coming. It'll be different and I think people will like it.
OooH YES emperor Velo the XXVII! I love this guy, he looks like Mr. Swackhammer
from "Space jam".
