Add this to the inventory of rotations created for Crash characters destined to be turned into toys. This is Koala Kong. Along with the other rotations I believe this is a first in publishing these drawings. Created at Naughty Dog's studio at Universal in 1997. They're photocopies of the originals. Koala Kong is Joe Pearson's idea and the design of the character is based upon what he had in mind when Crash was first being developed in 1995.

Apparently Naughty Dog got rid of Kong for Tiny to add variation. Also it's a shame this figure was never released.. It was supposed to be one of the third series figures.
This Kong is awesome! The official concept artist for the toys did a good job on him: http://residentlilly.deviantart.com/art/Koala-Kong-Lines-92246126 in my opinion but maybe it's a little too "realistic". He also hadded fingerless gloves lke the one that Crash wears.
Looks like the rotation sketches were put to good use. They're obviously the reference for the toy art. Thanks for posting the link Gabriele.
