Crash Bandicoot - Ripper Roo rotations

By request for some art of Ripper Roo the maniacal kangaroo from Crash Bandicoot. I found these photocopies of drawings I did at Naughty Dog with one dated March 1997 and another March 11 1997. I'm sure I drew both of them that day. The first one below has no date but my feeling is that it's from 1997 as well. With the previous rotations of Crash and Coco I mentioned that I did them in 1998. I may be wrong as they are part of the same body of work. In any case I'm certain that these are from 1997. The two stand alone images show the character with a mustache and a big lock of hair. I think we were trying to make him look like Albert Einstein. I believe there's more art that I did of Ripper Roo. Meanwhile enjoy these rare images. I'm pretty sure this is the first time they've been published.

Since these have rotations like the Crash and Coco you posted recently.. It seems like these could of been design for the action figures. 2 series of the figures were made and a 3rd series was supposed to be made but was cancelled. http://www.toymania.com/toyfair2000/resaurus/resauruscrash3.shtml

Roo is my favourite villain the series, his dual personality is awesome and his outfit in the Crash 2 is hilarious!
I love it!

Say Charles: Do you have some original sketches for Ripper Roo, studies and designs?

Yes! Ripper Roo, one of the craziest baddies in Crash's world! He was so fun to battle in both Crash 1 and Crash 2, shame that he never came back as a boss after CTR.

Charles, to comment on your Ripper Roo rotation (the second and third one), I believe that's for Crash 2's development. I recognize the lock of hair and mustache on him. He also had a top hat, bowtie, glasses or a monocle and a cane in Crash Bandicoot 2.

Also, here's a sketch/design of Ripper Roo you did for the development of Crash 1:

Fun fact, Ripper Roo's laugh came from the laughing hyena in Disney's Lady & the Tramp!

If I have more Ripper Roo art I'll post it up once I find it. I can see how these drawings were used in toy development. Thanks for the links Matt and Pat.

I would love to know what the famous Crash Bible have to say about Ripper Roo.
Charles did you made rotations for every character for the toys?

With the figures, I didn't like how they did more of Crash and Coco.. They should of made 1 of each character.

I did toy rotations for quite a few of the characters. Whatever copies I have I'll be posting in days ahead.

I'll also see what the Crash bible says about Ripper Roo.

These character rotations are good references! Speaking of Which- Patrick Meissner (who's working on the Crash fangame Crash Bandicoot Crystal's Wrath) told me he would end up using these newest character rotations for the 3D models.

That's good to know Jacob. Thanks.
