I've been keeping up with this series over on WebToons and I have to say that I'm loving it, the character design, especially Baldwyn is excellent!
I'll be waiting for the next chapters!

Did you do the artwork for the 1983 Big 10 Champions Illinois poster?

Hi Mr. Zembillas!

I hope you don't mind if I asked you this question.

The main cast of Crash Bandicoot such as Crash, Coco and Cortex recieved a redesign in Crash Nitro Kart.

Although the characters look exactly the same as the PS1 era, they have different clothes and colors.

Crash for example wears very detailed pants with belt and buttons and detailed gloves, his fur have different shade of orange and his pink mouth and yellow belly is all white.

Why this change?

I've always been curious about this.

Anyway that's all I've got, sorry for taking your time and have a nice day!!

Hello Jacc203.

My involvement with Crash Nitro Kart was to organize a production design team and come up with new content. We did the background designs, vehicles designs, and I designed new original characters. It was individuals at Vicarious Visions who reworked design elements on Crash, Cortex, Coco, etc. I and my team had nothing to do with it.

This was the first time that a new Crash game was being developed outside of Naughty Dog. I was told by Vicarious Visions that the assets for Crash (which was all the production data accumulated from the previous games) was delivered to them corrupted. VV had to go into the hard drives and restore everything. That's what made it possible to continue with a new game. Once that was done they contacted me about getting involved with the project and we went from there.

Hi Mr. Zembillas!

While, I was checking early prototypes of the first Crash Bandicoot, I've discovered that Tawna had different colors in the earlier version of the game.

Her fur was much darker, and she wore pink shirt, pink socks and green shorts:

In the final release, her fur color and the color of her shorts matches the color palette of Crash. Her shirt and socks is now red:

( ).

And it seems like the design was changed in the last minute of making the game, as traces of this design appeared in the final product. As one of the sections of the game featured her early design by mistake: ( )

It was also shown few months in magazines before the release of the game: ( )

There's also a render were she wore blue shirt: ( )

What was the reason behind this change?

I apologize for making my post too long.

Have a nice day!!

Hello Jacc203. Everything having to do with Tawna's color was a decision made by Naughty Dog. I had nothing to do with it. Wish I could give you some specific answers but it's not possible from my end of things. You'd have to contact someone from ND who was there at the time.
